You cannot

  • Upload without document.create (drop zone hidden)
  • Upload files over 10MB or unsupported types (queued as error, not sent)
  • Manage documents without document permissions
  • Use Documents offline

How to

Upload a document

  • With document.create, click the dashed drop zone to open the file picker, or drag files onto it. Multiple files can be added at once.
  • Accepted types: PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, and images (PNG/JPG/JPEG/WEBP); each file must be 10MB or smaller.
  • A file that fails the type or size check is added to the queue already marked as an error ("File exceeds 10MB limit" or "Unsupported file type") and is never sent.

Track, cancel, and retry uploads

  • Each queued file shows its name, size, and a progress bar that fills while it's uploading.
  • Click Cancel next to an uploading file to stop it — it's marked cancelled.
  • Click Retry on a failed or cancelled file to upload it again.
  • Click Remove to drop a file from the queue entirely (this also cancels it if still uploading).
  • Once a file finishes uploading it shows a green check, then clears from the queue a moment later as the document list refreshes.

View a document

  • Click a row, or row menu (⋮) → View, to open the file preview: PDFs render page by page, images display inline, and other file types show a Download prompt instead of a preview.
  • Download is always available from the preview toolbar; Share (needs document.update) opens a dialog to send the document to a customer by name or email.

  • Row menu → Delete (needs document.delete) removes a document after a confirmation prompt; select rows with the checkboxes to reveal the bulk Delete action in the toolbar.
  • An Edit option also appears in the row menu for accounts with document.update, but there's no dedicated edit screen behind it yet — to change a file's contents, delete it and upload the replacement instead.
